Rosacea is a chronic, progressive skin disease. There are several forms of rosacea, one of which is papulopustular. It is characterized by a rash in the form of pimples, which may resemble a rash during acne. But this is only one visible similarity between acne and the papulopustular form of rosacea. Other symptoms, as well as the causes of the appearance and treatment of these diseases, are different. Therefore, you should not try to make a diagnosis yourself, and even more so, you should not self-medicate. The best solution is to consult a specialist. A dermatologist will help determine the diagnosis and prescribe the most effective treatment.
One of the remedies prescribed by specialists for both acne and rosacea is azelaic acid. Azelaic acid is naturally found in some grains, such as barley, wheat and rye, as well as in the fungus Malassezia furfur ( Pityrosporum ovale ), which is part of the normal microflora of human skin. Therefore, we can say that azelaic acid is not alien to our skin and understands it well. Therefore, it can become a reliable assistant in skin care for both rosacea and acne. The effectiveness of azelaic acid for these diseases has been proven by numerous studies. Therefore, it is included in the treatment protocols for both acne and rosacea. The most effective azelaic acid remedies used specifically for rosacea are gels with a concentration of 15%.
