It is known that acne is a chronic disease in which periods of exacerbation and remission alternate. Studies have shown that the number of microcomedones decreases during the use of the products and increases after their withdrawal. This suggests that with acne it is advisable to use care products constantly: during the exacerbation period - in order to put the disease into remission, and during the remission period - in order to reduce the likelihood of a second exacerbation. Which products are advisable to use during the exacerbation period, and which ones during the remission period?
One of the remedies that experts often prescribe for acne is azelaic acid. Azelaic acid is naturally found in barley, wheat and rye grains and also in the fungus Malassezia furfur ( Pityrosporum ovale ), which is part of the normal microflora of human skin. Therefore, we can say that azelaic acid is not alien to our skin and understands it well. Azelaic acid provides a full range of effective measures necessary for skin care for acne, and its effectiveness has been proven by numerous studies. Therefore, it is included in acne treatment protocols. The most effective concentration of azelaic acid for acne is a concentration of 20%. It is appropriate to use this concentration of azelaic acid during the period of exacerbation of the disease. And during the period of remission, the concentration of azelaic acid can be reduced to 10% or 5%.
Azelaic acid at a concentration of 10% is used in the form of a gel. And since azelaic acid is recommended to be used 2 times a day, it is not always convenient to apply the gel to the skin in the morning, waiting for it to be absorbed. Therefore, in remission, azelaic acid can be used in the form of a lotion for morning application. Lotion, compared to a gel or cream, has a lighter texture, is distributed over the skin in a thin layer that is quickly absorbed. This saves time by using azelaic acid in the morning, when every minute is important during meetings for study, work or business. Due to the light texture, the lotion is also very easily distributed over large areas of the skin, so it is convenient to apply it to the chest or back, if acne affects these areas.
Thus, during the period of acne remission, it is possible to use azelaic acid 2 times a day: in the morning – AZELOJI LOTION 5% and in the evening. – AZELOGI GEL 10% .
